Actos

Actos

The FDA approved Actos in 1999 as a Type 2 diabetes medication.  Actos is a brand name version of the standard drug pioglitazone. Manufactured by Takeda Pharmaceuticals, they settled about 9,000 Actos-related lawsuits for $2.4 billion in 2015. Presently, there are more than 3,000 Actos lawsuits awaiting trial against Takeda Pharmaceuticals. These thousands of plaintiffs have all linked their development of bladder cancer to the side effects of taking Actos to treat their Type 2 diabetes.
